Amber did a commission of the famous Pitons from my home country of St.Lucia. Just saying that it was an amazing piece of art doesn't do it justice. Let me start by saying Amber knows how to paint. She is clearly a great painter but even better artist. I believe the difference between a painting and art has more to do with an emotional connection to the piece rather than the skill of placing paint on canvas. Knowing how to paint is a pre-requisite and not a quality of a great artist. What makes our piece truly transcendent is how its various layers pull us into the painting and evoke various emotions as we go deeper into its grasp. On the surface, its the Pitons and the iconic view creates a sense of instant recognition. Next, the use of pastels give us a sense of familiarity because pastels are heavily used in traditional Caribbean art. Third, and most important, is the depiction of the sun peaking through grey clouds. This is not something you normally see in paintings of the Pitons but it makes the piece truly personal. It rains almost everyday in St.Lucia and the sun always follows the rain. Knowing this fact and having an artist truly listen to you and pick up such details in our conversations creates a final and lasting connection. When I look at the painting of the Pitons by Amber, I remember moments and emotions from decades ago and it takes me home. I cannot express in words how grateful I am for the wonder art that Amber created for my family and I. We will cherish it forever. Amber is an artist in every sense of the word.

When I look at the beautiful Robin I feel such a strong connection to my Mother.  At the time of my Mother's passing Robins were immediately around and stayed well past their normal migration time. When we moved after retirement Robins again showed up to greet us at our new home in the snow much earlier then you would normally see them. Interactions like these with myself and other family members made us believers in "signs" from such a special person in our lives.  I love this and how I feel every time I see it.
